HOW GINIA GOT STARTED :
When Ginia was young, she began practicing barrel racing with her three good friends. After practicing for awhile, she started competing in small jackpots with her horse, Duke. Ginia’s good friend had given her an article to read about Martha Josey, a professional barrel racer. Ginia’s then boyfriend, now husband, brought home three barrels for her to practice with and she has been hooked ever since.
Q: WHAT IS YOUR EVERYDAY, BEHIND THE SCENES, ROUTINE THAT HELPS YOU ACHIEVE QUALITY, SUCCESS, AND HIGH PERFORMANCE WITH YOUR HORSES?
GINIA: Feeding good quality hay and TechMix. I am very picky about my horses having fresh, clean water, keeping my horses fit with walking, a lot of long trotting, and some loping. Plus, trail riding for the peace of mind. If an individual horse is having a problem, I do drills for that, but for the most part I stay away from the barrels.
Q: HOW DO YOU STRIVE FOR SUCCESS?
GINIA: My horses are all individuals and have their own style. I do not try to change their style. Sometimes it is a challenge when I run more than one horse at a race, but I want my horses to enjoy competing, so I try to just lightly guide them and let them do the rest. I am so fortunate to have an amazing mare that has a huge heart and I have bred her to some very nice stallions that have produced successful babies and they love doing what they do.
Q: WHAT DO YOU DO TO PREPARE YOURSELF MENTALLY BEFORE A COMPETITION?
GINIA: I like to have my horses fit and ready to go, which gives me the confidence I need to compete and when I get to a race, I picture my run with the horse I am on at that time.
Q: DO YOU HAVE A DAILY MANTRA OR INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE THAT YOU LIVE/COMPETE BY?
GINIA: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me and the only one you have to outrun is the clock.”
Q: WHAT ADVICE DO YOU HAVE FOR OTHERS THAT WANT TO COMPETE IN THIS SPORT?
GINIA: Feed the best quality of hay, and supplements. I strongly suggest TechMix, as I have excellent results feeding their products, set achievable goals, believe in yourself and your horse, keep your horses healthy and happy and wanting to run barrels.
Q: WHAT QUALITIES DO YOU SEE IN TECHMIX?
GINIA: There are so many good qualities in TechMix Products such as weight gain, a shiny coat, keeping my horse hydrated, their joints feeling stronger, excellent hoof growth and calming my horses down. When their stomachs are happy, they are happy.
Q: WHAT TECHMIX PRODUCTS DO YOU USE?
GINIA: My 31 year old horse, Duke had a very hard time keeping weight on his top line before I started feeding him Equine Restart and Equine Health E Oil. Duke looks and acts like he is a horse in his early teens, it is beyond amazing. Equine BlueLite is so beneficial in the winter months as well as the summer months; horses drink less water in the winter, but when I feed the Equine hoof protect, the results are amazing. I really notice a difference in my horses when they are fed the Equine Natu-Joint, they feel stronger. The Equine Build-Bac is amazing for the horses stomach. My horses calmed down right away when I first started feeding it and when I noticed a visible difference in more than one horse, with more than one product, I thought, “Wow these are great products.”
